Sam Rowley’s Impoundment Barra Journey started in 2018 roughly a year after the most recent flood and subsequent fish loss in Lake Monduran. Starting out with a complete lack of technology on my first boat meant that i really had to develop a great understanding of these fish in order to have consistent results.

Back then even with the most basic of sounders, I never went back to Brisbane with donuts. The main reason being the crazy number of hours myself and brother Tom would spend on the water. Four years later and I was confident I had the experience required to guide full time on the lake.

Although very successful from the get-go, I look back now and can’t help but think how little I knew compared to now. As well as the amount the techniques have progressed through the years. Being a quite honest person, I will never admit to knowing everything there is to know about Impoundment Barra. In fact, I’m still learning something new every day. I think this is the beauty of fishing. Despite having spent close to 1000 days on a single lake I’m still far from understanding every single piece of the puzzle.
